We are excited to announce that Foundry is coming to Vernon and Powell River and its surrounding areas! Through Budget 2023, the Province committed to opening 12 more Foundry centres in B.C. Vernon and Powell River are the first two communities that have been selected for a new centre.
Foundry Vernon and Powell River will offer young people between the ages of 12-24 and their families youth-friendly, welcoming and appropriate services to fit their unique needs, including mental-health and substance use support, drop-in counselling, physical and sexual healthcare, youth and family peer support and social services.
Currently, there are 16 Foundry centres open across BC, with an additional seven new Foundry centres in development in Burns Lake, East Kootenay (Cranbrook), Surrey, Fort St. John, Tri-Cities, Kamloops and Sunshine Coast, for a total of 35 Foundry centres provincewide once complete. In addition, Foundry provincial virtual services can be accessed from anywhere in the province through the Foundry BC app, by phone or foundrybc.ca/virtual.
We congratulate Canadian Mental Health Association Vernon & District Branch and Powell River Child, Youth & Family Services Society and the numerous community partners who played an instrumental role in bringing Foundry to Vernon and Powell River! We are so excited to see Foundry Vernon and Powell River officially open its doors and welcome youth and their caregivers.
