Suicide is not an easy subject to talk about. It can be very difficult to learn that someone you know is struggling with thoughts of suicide. Even though suicide can seem scary and overwhelming, it’s helpful to remember it’s not shameful or unusual to have thoughts of suicide. If you or someone you know is having thoughts of suicide, you are not alone.

Everyone deals with loss in their own way and at their own pace. Be patient with yourself and know there are resources to support you during this difficult time.  Get support from a counsellor. Find a suicide loss support group.

  • Call or text 9-8-8 to have access to 24/7 bilingual, trauma-informed, and culturally appropriate suicide prevention support.
  • Call the BC Suicide Help Line 1-800-SUICIDE (1-800-784-2433).
