Once you have an idea of the career you want to pursue, the first step is to find a post-secondary institution and the program(s) that will get you there.

There are three main types of post-secondary institutions in BC:

  • College: Offers a variety of programs, hands-on learning, industry-experienced instructors. Smaller institutions and class sizes.
  • Institute: Offer job-ready skills training including trades, technology, and applied education. Smaller class sizes, instructors experienced in their industry, professional training.
  • University: Offerings of expanded course offerings, research opportunities and specialized professors. Larger campuses and class sizes.
