What can I expect at a Foundry centre?

Entering a Foundry Centre

When you arrive at a Foundry centre, you’ll be welcomed by friendly staff.

If you’re not sure what you need, the front desk staff or a peer support worker can explain the mental health and wellness services Foundry offers.

You’ll be asked to answer some questions so staff can better support you. All questions are optional. There’s no judgment — Foundry staff are here to listen and help.

Entering a Foundry Centre

Foundry centres are designed for youth and families, by youth and families, with learnings from Indigenous advisors. You’ll find comfortable places to sit, private spaces to talk, rooms for medical services, areas for group activities and even a kitchen to cook together. Some centres have showers and laundry rooms you can use.

What to Expect: Youth

If you’re a youth, you might meet with a counsellor, a doctor or nurse, a youth peer support worker or a work and education specialist. You could join a mindfulness group or participate in a social activity like Dungeons & Dragons.

What to Expect: Family/Caregiver

If you’re a family member, you might meet with a counsellor or a family peer supporter. You could join a support group or participate in a workshop on  communication skills or overdose prevention.

Everyone at Foundry works as a team to provide the right services at the right time, based on your goals. They might also support you with accessing other services in your community.

How to access Foundry services

You can access Foundry services by dropping in or by making an appointment. At some centres, you can book your appointment using the Foundry BC app – visit our Foundry Virtual BC page to learn more.

All Foundry services are free and confidential.

Take a look inside a Foundry centre. Each centre is run by an organization working in that community <link to that section – Phase 2?> and designed by the people who live there, so centres may look a little different. They all offer the mental health and wellness services described in “About Foundry Services“.

Foundry Langley Supporting Its Community

Encompass Support Services Society works closely with our community members and partner organizations to develop the services and operate this Centre. Foundry is forging a new, province-wide culture of care through the development of a network of centres in local communities and virtual services on foundrybc.ca. Foundry focuses on early intervention, and 5 core service areas, bringing mental health, substance use, peer support, primary care (medical) and social services together in a single place. Foundry makes it easier for young people aged 12-24 to find the care, connection and support they need.
