Foundry Burnaby acknowledges that we operate on the ancestral and unceded territories of the xʷməθkʷəy̓əm (Musqueam), Sḵwx̱wú7mesh (Squamish), səlilwətaɬ (Tsleil-Waututh), and kʷikʷəƛ̓əm (Kwikwetlem) Peoples. We are committed to providing culturally sensitive services for the community. As a settler organization, it is our responsibility to dismantle colonialism in our sector and to strive to respectfully hold and nurture relationships with Indigenous Peoples, including Indigenous youth and family advisors, staff, community agencies and partners, who lead, guide and inform our work.
Who We Are
In 2024, BC Centre for Ability (BCCFA) was selected as the lead agency to implement a Foundry centre in Burnaby. Foundry Burnaby will increase access to health and wellness resources for young people between the ages of 12 and 24, along with their families and caregivers.
Foundry centres around BC help young people access five core services in one convenient location:
- mental health care
- substance use services
- physical and sexual health care
- youth and family peer supports
- social services
BCCFA serves as a perfect complimentary piece to the Foundry model of care, given its work with clients with a variety of developmental and physical disabilities. Many of these young people also experience mental health and wellness challenges. Foundry Burnaby will provide much needed support to these young people and many others in the community.
BC Centre for Ability is actively conducting a capital campaign to raise $2M to establish Foundry Burnaby. Make a difference for young people and their families in Burnaby and surrounding communities in the Lower Mainland by donating to the Centre today.
