Looking Glass BC Online Peer Support | Chat Times Vary ONLINE CHAT
Online Peer Support (OPS) chats provide a safe, anonymous space for individuals who are affected by an eating disorder or disordered eating to connect to a recovery community and receive support in real-time.

The Looking Glass Foundation offers free, regularly scheduled, real time Online Peer Support to people of age 14 and older across Canada who are experiencing disordered eating, weight or body image issues.

Overseen by a trained Looking Glass Moderator, each free chat session offers a safe, virtual, and confidential space for people to talk about what is going on for them, to share experiences, and to benefit from the empathy and understanding of others who get what it can be like to struggle with this challenge.

Available chat times:

Monday: 7:30 PM -9:00 PM
Tuesday: 12:00 PM-1:30 PM and 4:30 PM -6:00 PM and 7:30 PM-9:00 PM
Wednesday:  6:30 PM -8:00 PM* and 8:30 PM -10:00 PM
Thursday: 12:00 PM -1:30 PM and 4:30 PM -6:00 PM and 7:30 PM -9:00 PM
Friday: 7:30 PM -9:00 PM
Sunday: 7:30 PM -9:00 PM

*Binge Eating OPS Chat: takes place on the 1st and 3rd Wednesday of every month.
Open to individuals wishing to receive support related to bingeing behaviours, and the thoughts and feelings that accompany them.

Looking Glass Personal Recovery Space | 24/7 ONLINE
While not intended as therapeutic support, Personal Recovery Space allows people to safely share their experiences, struggles, goals, and hopes at their own pace and without fear of judgement.

The Looking Glass' Personal Recovery Space is a digital peer support program that offers personalized, confidential support to people ages 14+ who wishes to recover from an eating disorder. All of the support takes place in a secure, anonymous forum setting, in which participants can safely share their experiences, struggles, goals, and hopes with a team of trained, compassionate Looking Glass volunteers.

Brave in Your Body | 5 Sessions ONLINE
A virtual group for youth navigating poor body image who are seeking support.

Brave in your Body is a virtual group that was created due to the need Foundry Virtual BC has witnessed with youth seeking support services for navigating poor body image. Participants between the ages of 15 and 24 were encouraged to sign up and attend a weekly virtual group, which was made up of five sessions.

Free peer support programs are available to anyone 14+ living in Canada. All programs are virtual, so you can access them from anywhere. No diagnosis or referral is needed.

Peer Support programs are available free to anyone 14+ living in Canada. All programs are virtual, so you can access them from anywhere. There is NO LIMIT to how many programs you can participate in. A diagnosis or referral is not needed.

  • Youth Peer Support Group, For Ages 14-17. This is a 6-week closed group where we will talk about ways to deal with social pressures, diet culture, the media, our relationship with our body, food, eating, and exercise, and more. The same people come each week, so participants and facilitators have the chance to get to know each other. To register and for more information, click here.
  • Drop‑in Youth Peer Support Group for ages 18 – 25 (Wednesdays 4:00 pm – 5:15 pm PT). This ongoing drop-in group is a safe space for young people to come together and have conversations related to their experiences with eating disorders. With no set agenda, as a group we choose together what topics to explore/discuss. Topics often include navigating relationships, career and academic pressures, living independently, and body image concerns. To register and for more information, click here.
  • Two‑Spirit, Trans and Non‑binary Peer Support Group for those 18+ (Wednesdays 4:00 pm – 5:30 pm PT). This is a 4-week closed group for Two-spirit, Trans and Non-binary people struggling with concerns related to food, body image, and/or gender dysphoria. Discussions include strategies for self-compassion, unlearning gender binaries, self-care, and other concerns through a specifically trans lens. To register and for more information, click here.
